How to Create a Wiki:

1. Go to www.Wikispaces.com
2. Look under the "Join Now" box on the right
3. Create an account - You will need to enter a username, email address, and password
4. Write all of these down somewhere so you don't forget them!
5. Now that you are a member of Wikispaces, you may begin creating your Wiki!
6. Under "Welcome to Wikispaces" click "Create a new space."
7. Next, you need to name your space (like "jhslearningcenter" or "MrReedsFlippinSweetWiki") and then select "Protected (free)." This will allow others to see your Wiki but not allow them to edit it.
8. A box will pop up and can give you instructions on how to arrange your Wiki, but for the basics just close the box and read what we've written next!
9. Click on the "Edit this Page" icon.
10. This will be your homepage. You can type in it like you're writing an email! Type all the information your page needs. If you select where it says "normal" on the "editor" at the top of the page, you can change your font size. Your headline should be the largest, and subheadings should be smaller than the headline but larger than your information!

Helpful Hints:

1. To add a hyperlink highlight your word, and then click the small planet with a chain link on your "editor." Then, select "external link" and paste your link.
2. To add a picture, click on the picture of a tree in the "editor." You may either load a picture from the computer or from the internet by clicking on a picture and selecting "Copy Image Location" and then paste it under the line that says: "Insert External Image by URL". By clicking on the image, you can put it on the left, right, or center of your page. You can also add or delete a caption.
3. To add another page, just click the "New Page" link on the top-left corner. Make sure to add a hyperlink on your home page, so people can get to your new page!
4. Make sure to to click the "Save" button early and often!
